the 2024-2025 school year
Monday-Friday, 2.25 hours per day, 11:25am - 1:40pm

Job Title: Paraeducator, Noon Aide
Department: General Education Paraeducators
Reports to: Principal
Work Year: 180 days
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Unit B
Salary Range: Paraeducator Salary Scales
The Noon Aide Paraeducator supervises students during lunch and recess, ensuring a safe and enjoyable time for the students. The Noon Aide provides support in many domains, including social-emotional, behavioral, and life skills support, all of which may occur throughout the students’ lunch and recess period.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school gradute or GED.
- Solid related experience may substitute for a degree
- Specialized Knowledge Preferred: child growth and development, cultural proficiency, social-emotional learning
- CORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with children ages 4-12
- Experience working with English Language Learners and in a diverse public school setting
- Experience with students with special abilities, including students with physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
- Experience supporting children with life skills such as communication, eating, cleaning, and playing
Skills:
- Create a welcoming, supportive, and safe lunch and recess environment
- Empower students to be critical thinkers who can reflect on their learning, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and implement learned strategies
- Partner and collaborate with other Noon Aides and school staff
- Communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
- Multi-task in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
The Paraeducator, Noon Aide must be able to:
- Maintain a record of regular attendance, arrive and depart at specified contractual times, and follow appropriate protocols when absent or tardy
- Maintain the physical strength and agility needed to perform job responsibilities
- Maintain professional boundaries with students and families/caregivers
- Ensure confidentiality of records, performance, and personal information related to students and their families/caregivers
- Think and work flexibly with the ability to adjust when needed
Performance Responsibilities May Incude But Are Not Limited to:
- Ensures that proper safety practices are followed at all times
- Creates a welcoming and supportive lunch and recess environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunitiesServes as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information in working with students, families, and colleagues
- Provides intensive attention and instruction to social and physical needs, including peer and adult interactions
- Provides social-emotional and behavioral support as needed during lunch and recess
- De-escalates student if necessary i.e., remove from lunchroom or playground, consult with administrator or other school personnel, etc.
- Displays flexibility in accepting and carrying out assignments and responsibilities
- Wipes down cafeteria tables and maintains cleanliness in the lunch room
- Complies with policies as outlined in the Westborough Public Schools Employee Handbook
- Any other relative duties as assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the WPS Paraeducator’s Evaluation system
Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits, for permanent benefits eligible employees, are per the contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
