The Westborough Public Schools seek a dynamic .5 Math Teacher

Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day, 8AM - noon 

to join our caring staff at Mill Pond School

 

starting January 2, 2025

JOB GOAL 

Our teachers foster a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The teacher provides learning experiences that engage students in language arts, math, science/technology/engineering, social studies, and social-emotional learning guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
  • Professional Certification: MA DESE license in Elementary Education; SEI Endorsement
    • Additional certification in special education and/or ESL highly desirable
  • Specialized Knowledge: child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-racist instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration

  • Hiring Requirement: Submission and approval of DESE mandated CORI and fingerprinting

 Preferred Experience:

    • Strong background math instruction
    • Working with ELL students to help them make gains in language and content
    • Working with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
    • Highly desirable to have experience with:

      • Guided Math Workshop model
      • Eureka Math
      • Second Step
      • Responsive Classroom
      • Technology Integration

 Skills:

    • Create a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment 
    • Plan and implement differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessment based on district objectives and needs of students to whom assigned  
    • Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional design
    • Partner and collaborate with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
    • Integrate technology to enhance and extend student learning experiences
    • Demonstrate a belief in a growth mindset for students and self

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Provide learning experiences across all subject areas as guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
    • Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjust instruction
    • Evaluate and refine instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student confidence in learning
    • Participate in professional development activities and meet district expectations for licensure recertification
    • Share responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of grade, department, school, and school district
    • Participate in all faculty and district-wide committees as needed
    • Any other relative duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to their classroom.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

 

Salary and benefits, for permanent benefits eligible employees, per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
